Our location was originally built to be a flooring store and opened as Stradwicks in 1978. In the
late 1980s ownership changed, but the store remained the same. It was in 2008 that the store
became part of the Carpet One Family and changed its name to
Oshawa Carpet One Floor & Home.
We are family owned and operated with Guy and Michelle Pylypiw as owners and their two sons as co-owners.
We are proud to sponsor the Oshawa Community Hockey Leauge, Oshawa Minor Hockey, the Oshawa Generals,
Oshawa Ringette and the Oshawa Baseball organizations. Guy and Michelle have both served on our
church boards and Michelle is a former member of 100 Women Who Care.

The Wally Hileman Award was created in memory of Wally Hileman, Carpet One Floor & Home’s first Vice President of Membership who, from 1991 through 1998, brought in many of the great members that have made Carpet One Floor & Home successful. This Award recognizes members who have been in Carpet One Floor & Home for no more than 2-3 years and have shown an outstanding commitment to the cooperative. Since joining Carpet One Floor & Home, Guy and Michelle have jumped in with both feet. They are the first to volunteer for pilot programs to help their fellow members and have been instrumental in helping to coordinate training opportunities. They represent the interests of other members through participation in the Advisory Council and active involvement in their Regional Network Group. These owners are also very family-focused. They have a niece that works with them in the business and though very busy, they make it a priority to spend quality time with their two young boys and in giving back to their community. “Guy and Michelle are always working on improving, and never shy away from a challenge. In fact, in just 2 years, they have tripled their business,” said Baxter Freak, Vice President of Carpet One Floor & Home Canada. “And when it comes to supporting the cooperative, they give as much …if not more…than they take.”
